Here we go! I am going to list EVERY genre that you could possibly think of. Along with that I will name a couple artists of that genre, of which these artists are the most respected for this particular genre. Enjoy!

2-Step:Commonly a term for music that makes you just want to dance.
Cupid and Cute is What We Aim For are very popular for this genre.

Boyz II Men and Jennifer Knapp are well respected artists in this field.

Accoustic: Common with using a guitar, and vocals for the primary sound.
The Scene Aesthetic and Secondhand Serenade are very popular in this genre.

Afro-Beat: When reggae-roots and Hip-Hop type music cross it forms the sound of this genre.
There really is no particular artist for this, considering many artists consider themselves to be in the Afro-Beat genre, but Bob Marley is one of the founders in my opinion.

Alternative: This speaks for itself, although this usually refers to a cross between rock and pop, it can be mostly anything.
Some icons of this genre include Ryan Adams and Maroon 5.

Ambient: This is a genre in which is commonly clashed with electro and trance music to form a peaceful trance for your state of mind.
Some great artists in this genre range from Mushroomhead, Moby, Imogen Heap or White Apple Tree.

Big-Beat: This is a genre in which beats are used to form the background of the songs… It makes you want to bob your head back and forth. If you have seen Night At The Roxbury then you know what I am talking about.
Bjork and Fatboy Slim are icons in this genre.

Black Metal: Hardcore goth music to the extreme. Heavy Guitars and screaming.

I have here a few videos of popular songs, covered by current popular artists.
First up we have The Counting Crows covering Joni Mitchell’s version of Big Yellow Taxi.

In my opinion I like it, sure no one can beat Joni Mitchell, but its a nice way of covering her type of music.

The next cover is by Jack’s Mannequin. ‘God’ by John Lennon is performed in this music video. Sure no one can come close to John Lennon when it comes to lyrics, voice, style, etc., but its an interesting twist.

Finally for our last cover, we have a single girl covering the band Gregory and The Hawks song titled ‘Boats and Birds’. This girls name is Kristen Trayer.

Which one is your favorite and why?
My favorite is the last one, the cover of Gregory and the Hawk. I like it because its so cool that she has such a nice voice, while focusing on guitar as well… I admire skills like that!

Mikromops - Menschemosaik

Knobtweakers.net says

German singer, Boris Von Der Burg and Swiss electro producer, Uwe Schwarz have teamed up to produce some nice electro-pop, released via Alpinechic. I really enjoyed the laid back melodies in “Menschenmosaik”. Too bad I don’t understand a word of it. Maybe that’s part of the charm.

And last but not least, another Techno artist, Monochord with a song titled ‘No Question, No Answer’

For those of you who like John Mayer, or for those who know who Danger:Radio is then Bekker is for you. Bekker is a mix of the two, with some great lyrics for a band that has 15-18 year olds throughout it.

Jason Webley
Jason Webley

Recently I have been listening to some Jason Webley. His sounds are a mixture of Accordian-style-english-street-indie-guitar-bob_dylan-band kind of thing… Listen and you will know what I mean haha.

For those Techno / Electro fans I have a little something different in store. Cullen Thef. Cullen thef is a mix of Benny Bennassi teamed up with James Figurine… Cullen Thef is just getting started, but for a newbie, he’s pretty good.

Bright Eyes Icon AIM

Last but not least we have one of my favorite artists, many people haven’t heard of surprisingly. Bright Eyes. Bright Eyes could be a term to describe something in itself. It is a modern day Bob Dylan, with such Emotional/ Emo lyrics it will push your head in… or something like that at least. Bright Eyes consists of Conor Oberst primarily, with Mike Mogis (The Faint) and a select others that tour with him for shows and record with him, but its an ever changing band.

Give some of these artists a listen!

July 27th, 2007The Simpsons Movie Is Out

The Simpsons Movie is finally out, after at least a year of anticipation. I am excited for it… but sadly today I am not seeing that movie. I am seeing ‘Who’s Your Caddy’ with Andy Milonakis!

Well if you are, the website has an official ‘Simpsonizer’ out!

The whole plot of the Simpsons Movie looks like the government is placing a biodome or something over Springfield… The Simpsons decide to save Springfield and voila! It looks really funny, and the plot actually isn’t too horrible, its a little cliche, but who really cares right? Its The Simpsons!

Here is a free episode from Season 12!

In other news I am seeing Bekker perform in Bothell tonight.
