Michael Jackson is officially dead. Jackson collapsed at his home in west London, and his body was found by his housekeeper Thursday morning.
Not that Michael Jackson.
THAT Michael Jackson.
Michael Jackson, a leading world beer critic known as “the beer hunter,” has died, a colleague said Friday. He was 65.
“He was simply the best beer writer we’ve ever known. He told wonderful stories about beer, breweries and far away places,” Hampson said.
“He told the story of beer through people, and he was humorous and erudite at the same time.”
Jackson especially loved Belgian brews, and his books “The Great Beers of Belgium” and “World Guide to Beer” introduced them to many export markets, including the United States.
By identifying beers by their flavors and styles, and by pairing them with particular foods and dishes, Jackson helped give birth to a renaissance of interest in beer and breweries worldwide that began in the 1970s, including the microbrewery movement in North America.
His TV documentary series, “The Beer Hunter” - which popularized his nickname - was filmed around the world and shown in 15 countries.
Portugal. The Man.
This isn’t a huge widely known band, by any means. But if you live in the northwest area, or Ireland then chances are they have played near your town… a few times.
Portugal. The Man is a mix of The Fall of Troy and Gatsby’s American Dream as far as I am concerned. The style of lyrics are very majestic as well as meaningful. Most songs are about destruction, or ’speaking out’ per say.
I went to see Portugal. The Man live on Saturday night, at the El Corazon in Seattle, WA. They played with Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground, Photo Atlas, and The Johnbenders. It was a pretty neat show, and Portugal. The Man brought their own lights for the stage!
Portugal. The Man - AKA M80 The Wolf, Music Video.
Currently they have a new album ‘Church Mouth’ which has more of a mature sound to it. I prefer the classic Portugal. The Man, but the new stuff is great as well.
They are about to start a tour around Europe, so if you live there, be sure to catch them haha!
If not, and you live in the U.S like most of my readers, then stay posted here and I will be sure to announce the new tour when its updated!

Marijuana? Music? Arts? Food?
It really all molds together up here (or down here) in Seattle, Washington.
Seattle Hempfest is an annual celebration of Music, Arts, Marijuana and great fun.
The goal of Hempfest is to get a large gathering of people to all talk about how Marijuana should be legal. There are Doctors, Judges, Lawyers, Physicians, and all kinds of people that speak out about how it good for you, and how it does no harm.
* Seattle Hempfest has been produced in Myrtle Edwards Park since 1995.
* Attendance in 2006 was similar to 2001. Hempfest has not outgrown the park. (About Hempfest.)
* The Olympic Sculpture Park (OSP) narrowed the traditional entrance to Myrtle Edwards Park. (More on this.)
* The Alaskan Way “boulevard” was reduced from a 26′ wide access road to a 11′ wide path.
* To remain viable and safe, Hempfest needs access to the stairs and ramp (the “high road”) that is on the public land west of the train tracks.
* The Seattle Police, Fire Department and Parks Department all agree with the above statement.
* The Seattle Art Museum wants to deny Hempfest use of the stairs and high road west of the tracks.
* Jurisdiction over the high road is in dispute, but the Seattle Art Museum insists on closing it for Hempfest weekend.
* The legislation that authorizes the Seattle Art Museum to build part of the Olympic Sculpture Park on public land requires access for special events.
