October 17th, 2007iPod Touch Review

  • So if you are like most people, then you want the new iPod Touch or iPhone.
  • I am like most people… so I bought one. The Apple stores were sold out of course, so I checked Wal-Mart. Yep, they had them.
I bought an 8gb iPod Touch, with a 2 year extended warranty, since this was my first iPod bought brand new, two iPods later after buying them on craigslist, I realized that I need a warranty.

    iPod Touch 8GB iTunes Digital

  • The cost was $ 343.45 after tax. I went home, and I felt so excited I couldn’t contain myself. So I got it ready, read the entire manual, in anticipation of plugging it into my computer. I plugged it in, but my Windows XP Service Pack V.2 wasn’t installed.
  • I searched for help on forums for about an hour, then found out Download.com had what I needed.
I downloaded XP Service Pack 1, which took about 45 minutes, then installed XP Service Pack 2, which took about two hours… That STILL didn’t work, and I was getting frusterated.
I uninstalled iTunes entirely, and reinstalled it.
One hour later, my computer recognized the iPod Touch.

  • NEXT dilemma with my iPod Touch: I still had 11 GB of music, after clearing all the videos and songs I will probably never listen to again, on my computer. I made a playlist with 7.7 GB, but the iPod Touch could only hold like 7.5 GB, so everything past Tech N9NE was gone (Vanessa Carlton, Van Morrison, White Stripes, etc.) But thats okay, because I still have tons of music, AND YouTube, right?… WRONG
  • I started walking to school, music sounded good, cover flow was cool even with like 10 album covers haha. But the YouTube/ Internet didn’t work. No Wi-Fi was anywhere without a password. I get to school, and the school has locked Wi-Fi. Most people thought it was cool, which I found out was a main reason why I bought it. I ended up going home, extremely dissapointed that I forked out 350 dollars for something that couldn’t hold my music, couldn’t go on the internet anywhere but Starbucks or McDonalds, anywhere else there is computer access, so why bother?

  • To top it all off, it scratches easy. The iPod Touch is not scratch proof on the back. The back should be presentable, so without a case, the back will be so easily scratched its not even funny. The front doesn’t scratch, but it smudges really easily. It looked the way my iPod Video did after a month of use, in just one day of light use.
  • The Answer is No Vote No

Wal-Mart gave me a FULL refund, and was nice about it.

    The Pros:

  • Looks great.
Flicking music makes you feel cool.
Battery life seems pretty superior to other iPods.
  • The Cons:

  • Too thin.
    Smudges too easily.
Wi-Fi is nowhere to be found.
    The cost.
    The small size of 8GB.
And of course… NO pre installed games!

  • October 7th, 2007Band of Horses Review

The Band of Horses includes members of the band Carissa’s Weird, which was a great indie success.

    Band of Horses

    Members include:
    Ben Bridwell
    Rob Hampton
    & Creighton Barrett

Last night, October 6th, they played a MySpace Secret Show at The Vera Project in Seattle, WA. I JUST found out about it today, one day late! Ugh I am so sad. I had to work anyways though, so I wouldn’t have been able to go.
Thousands tried to pack their way into the venue, but it wouldn’t hold anywhere near the people that wanted to get in… for free by the way, all MySpace Secret Shows are free.

B.O.H are on a nation-wide tour right now, with playing such cities as L.A, Chicago, N.Y, Seattle, Miami, etc. They are reaching about every state, which is nice if you live in like South Dakota or some out of the way state like that.

The new C.D is out October 9th, and there are a few songs of the album on their MySpace page, if you want to listen to the new stuff. The new stuff sounds similar, but the lyrics didn’t get old at all. The sound always seems to be something new as well, so I think we are all in for a great treat.

October 7th, 2007Party Busted By The Cops

My first big high school party in my senior year was on Friday night. Originally it was supposed to be like 10 people, all dancing to great techno with amazing stereo equipment. Then somehow word got out, and even a teacher at Bothell High School said “If you are going to Megan so and so’s party, don’t drink and drive”. I had no idea how big it was going to be, neither did she. Tons of little sophomores came, and pretended to be drunk, or rolling on ecstasy. She started kicking people out, but then someone said the cops were here, but it was a rumour we found out.

About 10 minutes later, people started running out, and I saw some guy with a flashlight saying “Stay Where You Are”. I wasn’t drinking, or doing drugs, like a lot of the people there, but I could have still gotten an M.I.P (Minor In Possession) by just being there. A lot of the people hopped the fence, but I waited around with my 3 friends I was there with and just waited, then went inside for the police to check us out.

What I didn’t know was that my ex-gf, who is my best friend, promised me she would never do drugs or drink again. I figured both of us had nothing to be afraid of, but little did I know was that she actually did drink, and parachuted (powdered ecstasy with rolled up toilet paper swallowed) just before the cops came. I told her numerous times that she didn’t need the crap, and we wouldn’t be friends anymore if you do that stuff again. But obviously she didn’t value our friendship, but whatever.

    Breathalyzer BAC
So the cops took some breathalizers, some people were over, but luckily they said, just find a ride home, and let me call your parents. My ex-gf that had been drinking and just parachuted just said she was clean, and went away scott free, but I had to take a breathalizer. I blew a 0.00 and went away.

The holdee of the party got an M.I.P for everyone at the party. She got charged for all the alcohol and paraphernalia. She didn’t drink or do any drugs, which really made me mad, because it wasn’t her fault.

Just a little story to tell everyone, and how if you choose wisely when you do drugs or drink then you can get in a lot less of trouble. If I had chosen that time to first experiment I could have been in loads of trouble. But luckily I am a good kid :D.

    Has anyone had similar experiences?
    -Michael
