Here are the Detail’s of Bush’s Economic Stimulus and Tax Rebate Plan:
-
President Bush and House legislators have agreed on the basic policy objectives for boosting the US economy in the hopes of warding off a recession.
Bush hopes that the plan will provide an “effective, robust, and temporary set of incentives that will boost our economy and encourage job creation.”

The plan contains provisions to eliminate the 10% tax bracket, the lowest tax bracket, to zero percent for one year only, and will provide a tax incentive for businesses to invest in fixed assets such as machinery and equipment. The ten percent tax bracket will be reduced to zero percent for the year 2008.
Individuals would receive an early tax rebate check. The minimum rebate check would be $300 and range up to a maximum of $1,800. The rebate is a refund of the taxes from eliminating the 10% tax bracket. The dollar amounts are determined by an individual’s earned income and family size. Unmarried individuals would receive a rebate of up to $600, and married couples a rebate of up to $1,200. Plus, there will be a $300 rebate per child, up to a max of two children.
So… What should we all buy!? Assuming the average that everyone gets is roughly $600.00, and you are really frowned upon if you don’t spend it, then what should you buy!!?
I have a few suggestions:
Option A: Apple’s iPod Nano Video

This will set you back about 199 dollars for an 8gb model. This Apple iPod Nano Video comes in a wide assortment of colors. Videos, Pictures, Games, and music! Roughly 2,000 songs, 25 hours of video, and more space for pictures than you would ever need.
This model is well improved from the last zune, and 1/8 the weight, and 1/4 as thick. This Zune holds the same as the iPod Nano, but this also has radio built into it… This Zune is about the same price as the iPod Nano Video ($190), but slightly cheaper. The headphones of the iPod make up for the few extra bucks though..
So now we have our fancy mp3 players, right? Well, assuming you do now, let’s go through some great things to buy that can go with them…

Don’t feel like buying an entire album for 12 bucks? Well, assuming that the iTunes store isn’t for you then here is Limewire Pro 2008. For $21.95 you can have any song you could possibly want, for an even faster download than the iTunes Store… for free after the initial payment. This includes videos, documents, pictures, and even full length video games and applications… It may be considered illegal in some parts of the world though, might I warn you.

The Helio Sequence are from Portland,Oregon. Personally the sound reminds me of The Cure’s vocals, with Minus The Bear type riffs, and drums similar to Smoosh. If you don’t know what that sounds like by the description… then check them out yourself! The album is only 10 bucks on they’re Snowcap Music store on MySpace

You can hear the familiar riffs and rhythms of Death Cab For Cutie in ‘Sing Again’ the hit single off of ‘Field Manual’. The album was recently released on Barsuk Records (Smoosh, Death Cab, Harvey Danger, Rocky Votolato). Sadly Chris Walla is too busy with DCfC’s new album to tour at all, so we will have to wait a month or two before there is a chance of a few shows here and there… but it’s worth the wait! You can buy the album for $9.99 at most stores.

Danger Radio, such a small band just one year ago, playing most shows in the greater Seattle Area, now is on a nationwide tour with The Audition, Envy on The Coast & Another Day Late, sponsored by PacSun. Alternative, Funk, & Indie all in one genre is Danger:Radio. Featuring the vocals of Andrew de Torres of The Scene Aesthetic, as well as the drum and programming skills of Nico Hartikainen (Smile Future). This album is a great one indeed, if you are interested in hearing new-wave funk meets This Providence. Personally I think Danger Radio is in a genre of their own, but you decide for yourself! The album is 10 bucks on iTunes!
