August 3rd, 2007A small guide to RAVING

Raves. I am sure you have heard the term before, or have had friends that have been to them. Or even likely as well, you may have even been to one… or even more.
plur

First off, lets go to the only rule of raving.
P.L.U.R
This stands for Peace. Love. Unity. & Respect.
It speaks for itself. Treats others how you would like to be treated is a more common version, except this rule makes it so everyone is equal, and united, and feels one with everyone. People that have trouble with this rule often use an enhancer to feel more united.
This brings us to our next topic.

No Drugs No Shoplift Shoplifting Don’t Dont Do

Alright so that picture doesn’t have a ton to do with what we are talking about, but, hey, its funny right?
Ecstasy is the drug of choice for raving. Personally I have never taken ecstasy but I hear great things, I won’t lie to you. Ecstasy is classified as a hallucinatory, but I would put it in a class in itself. Ecstasy is more often than not, just a mix of crack, ketamine, MDMA, and Salvia Divinorum extract. The crack settles your body, the ketamine makes all the lights and techno music (that is more often than not cranked up so loud you can’t think) feel so euphoric, the MDMA makes your insides feel as if they are turning inside out with butterflies, and the salvia divinorum extract makes the visuals appear and causes confusion.

Thats Ecstasy friends

Ecstasy usually costs 10 bucks a pill. One pill is usually enough for an hour or two, but I know people that have taken 10-20 pills and feel great afterwards. I believe it takes 30 mins or so until you feel effects, and the peak is 20-30 minutes, and the comedown is 50-70 minutes. But its not a bad comedown, such as one you would have on crack or heroin where you crave the drug, and have horrible pains because you are in dire need of the drug.

Our third segment is on CANDY! Candy is the currency of ravers. Beads, bracelets, necklaces.

Candy Kids

You can tell by the picture the teens are dressed in beads, and colorful outfits. Ravers more often than not have a creative outfit, TONS of beads all over, and a pacifier and glow sticks. I know it sounds cliche but its usually true.

Finally, our last part.
THE MUSIC!!

That was “I Love Techno 2006, in Italy”
It consisted of DJ Tiesto, who is one of the most respected techno artists in the industry.
Rave music can consist of Techno, Electro, and Synth rock.
The genres branch out into MANY genres, which we will get into later!

For those of you who like John Mayer, or for those who know who Danger:Radio is then Bekker is for you. Bekker is a mix of the two, with some great lyrics for a band that has 15-18 year olds throughout it.

Jason Webley
Jason Webley

Recently I have been listening to some Jason Webley. His sounds are a mixture of Accordian-style-english-street-indie-guitar-bob_dylan-band kind of thing… Listen and you will know what I mean haha.

For those Techno / Electro fans I have a little something different in store. Cullen Thef. Cullen thef is a mix of Benny Bennassi teamed up with James Figurine… Cullen Thef is just getting started, but for a newbie, he’s pretty good.

Bright Eyes Icon AIM

Last but not least we have one of my favorite artists, many people haven’t heard of surprisingly. Bright Eyes. Bright Eyes could be a term to describe something in itself. It is a modern day Bob Dylan, with such Emotional/ Emo lyrics it will push your head in… or something like that at least. Bright Eyes consists of Conor Oberst primarily, with Mike Mogis (The Faint) and a select others that tour with him for shows and record with him, but its an ever changing band.

Give some of these artists a listen!

That one up there is a video of Dry Ice, mentos and Diet Coke… pretty cool bombs.

That video is a pretty famous YouTube video of Diet Coke and Mentos

And that one is a prank using Diet Coke and Mentos.

Which one is the best? YouRank! YouTell me!

I personally like the second one, great quality, great timing, great everything obviously.

Sushi is an English word that has come to refer to a complete dish with rice and toppings.
Sushi Ice Cream
The rice could be the ice cream, which is the main part of most ice cream dishes, as rice is a main part of most asian dishes. The toppings could be cucumber, eel, salmon, etc. Or the toppics could be hot fudge, M&M’s or skittles.

I figured like posting about this… hmmph.

July 11th, 2007Online Music Stores

So I have been looking around lately, I am under 18, so I can’t have a credit card. So I can go to Safeway, and buy prepaid Visa Checkcards. With that I look around online for shtuff to buy.
Visa Giftcard

I see at Destiny-Worldwide.com that there are about 4 bands, including The Scene Aesthetic, Last Day Standing, Poem, and November Blessing… I wanted to get the new TSA C.D and DVD.
Then I went to Saddle-Creek.com and saw about 20 different artists, and a huge selection of cds from all of the artists. Along with buttons, shirts, and random items. I ended up buying from Saddle-Creek even though they didn’t have what I wanted…

So I guess what I am trying to say is that even if you like certain bands in which are not very big, the online store is nice and all, but when there is such a small selection you are way less likely to buy it. And now with Limewire, and friends that could just buy it and give it out to hundreds of people, why bother?

I bought two buttons, a Cursive T-Shirt, and a Maria Taylor C.D (even though I already have most of the songs from Limewire). Why did I bother with the C.D then? Because the C.D came with a iron on patch, sticker, and a personally signed photograph. The TSA merch was just a C.D and D.V.D
The Scene Aesthetic Self Titled Album

The smaller record companies and bands need to step it up a notch. When PlayRadioPlay released his Frequency EP he included a patch, sticker, and some other cool stuff. I wanted to buy it, but didn’t have the money then. And now I can’t find anywhere to get it (if you know where let me know!). So for those smaller record companies try harder. For those of you who have bought a C.D/or merch from online, why did you do it when you could have gotten it from a live show? Did they not come to your town?
Talk to me!!

July 11th, 2007So I am in a dilemma…

July 27th.
Matt Bekker John Mayer Jazz
I am scheduled to work 3-9 at night. But I figure I can have my boss re configure my schedule.
At 7 P.M that night, Bekker plays in Bothell,WA at The Lions Den.
But at 7:30 P.M Ryan Adams plays in Seattle, WA at The Moore.
I don’t know which one to go to!!. Gah. This sucks.

Any opinions?

Bekker
