The Official 2008 Sasquatch Lineup has been announced!!
More than likely a good 15 bands will be added, and I would say 2-3 bands may cancel… hopefully M.I.A doesn’t bail out this year…

This year has a pretty intense lineup, featuring many bands in which have played the Sasquatch festival in the past.
Headlining bands:
The Cure, R.E.M, Death Cab, The Flaming Lips UFO show

[This show has been refered to one of the best shows you will see in your lifetime, and The Flaming Lips are voted number 16 on The Rolling Stones’ 100 bands you must see before you die].

Along with the headliners we have a few other mainstage bands:
Modest Mouse, M.I.A, Flight of the Concords, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Michael Franti & Spearhead & The Breeders.

I am hoping a few more are announced before March 8th, when tickets go on sale.

Last year a few bands were added last minute, such as Patrick Wolf, The Long Winters… That was also the day after M.I.A cancelled… so they had to do something.

Now I also hear Mars Volta is a band they are trying to get, to pair up with The Flaming Lips on the main stage… I suppose we are just going to have to find out, eh?

I found these by looking around on MySpace.com, for tour dates, comparing them with those of other festivals, and also by simply looking at what Sasquatch has brought us in the past.

Wookie Stage:
65DaysofStatic, Cat Power, Polyphonic Spree, Explosions in The Sky, Lightspeed Champion, Band of Horses, I’m From Barcelona, The National… Possibly could we have a shot at The Kooks for the Wookie Stage?

Yeti Stage:
Smoosh, Minus The Bear, Fleet Foxes, Heavenly States, Dyme Def, Helio Sequence, Kay Kay and his Weathered Underground, The Cave Singers, The Blakes, David Bazan, Common Market…
For the first time Sasquatch is going to feature a comedy tent. There haven’t been many guesses as to the comedians, but here is my shot at a possible lineup!
Comedy Tent:
Flight of the Concords, Kyle Cease, Carrot Top, Mike Wally Walter, Daniel Zindler, Patty Oswalt…

Matt Costa is on tour from January until the end of April! Such locations include California, Washington, British Colombia, Minnesota, New York, D.C, Georgia, Melbourne Australia, Tokyo Japan and a few other to be announced.

April 25, 26, 27 of 2008. Jack Johnson, Portishead, Death Cab, The Streets, Tegan & Sarah, Fatboy Slim, Minus The Bear, M.I.A, Flogging Molly, Sia, The Holy Fucks, & I’m From Barcelona are just SOME of the many acts that are going to perform!

Sasquatch Festival in Washington State
Memorial Day Weekend 2008. The Cure, Rush, Gang of Four & The Heavenly States are all confirmed. The rumors which will 99% more than likely happen are: Death Cab For Cutie, Tegan & Sarah, Minus The Bear, I’m From Barcelona,Cat Power, Matt Costa & Jack Johnson. Other rumors which are looking dimmer include Radiohead, Flogging Molly, R.E.M & Tech N9ne.

Cat Power is playing in New York, Boston, Philly, Toronto, Chicago, Minneapolis Feb 6-11th.. Rumored to play at Coachella, Sasquatch & 10,000 Lakes Festival.

The Sasquatch Festival in George, Washington… One word. Freaking awesome.

Saturday: I came at about 1:00 P.M
It started at about 12:00.
I went and watched the Two Gallants, which was the main band I wanted to see on the Wookie Stage. Then I headed over to the Yeti stage, where all of the local bands played. I saw Mirah, Aqueduct, Gabriel Teodros, and Viva Voce.
After Aqueduct, I headed over to the Main Stage, to see the rest of Manu Chao and Radio Bemba, what a show they put on. Most of the people I assume didn’t speak spanish, but loved the songs. About 30 mins after, The Arcade Fire started up.
They started with ‘Black Mirror’ then a few songs later performed ‘Laika (Neighborhood #3). They closed with ‘Wake Up.

Bjork was stunning. She was so beautiful, stunning and the crowd was silent. When she started saying “Hello” You could hear the echo. It was like the scene from Forest Gump, when they are at the White House, and the rally started, and everyone was listening to Forest, you could hear the echo. The crowd was silent for Bjork. She started with a song from her new album, ‘Volta’. She played songs such as ‘The Pleasure is All Mine’, ‘Human Behavior’ and a few other new songs. At the end of her performance, the laser lights started, for ‘Destroy Independence’. It was a little remix as well, hecka big beat and cymbals, SO loud, and the lasers going everywhere! The crowd was loving it, so was I. She put on an AMAZING show.

Sunday: I arrived late, and missed The Blakes, Minus The Bear, and Patrick Wolf. But I DID get a picture of Patrick Wolf signing autographs haha. I went straight to the Yeti stage, and caught the end of Helio Sequence. I caught all of Common Market. That was one heck of a show. Great rap, great freestyles, and awesome with the crowd. Then the highlight of my day. SMOOSH! They came on after Common Market. It took about 30 minutes to get set up, considering the wind was ferocious, and just made everything sound wacky. The outfits the girls had were awesome. Asya was wearing this really cool raincoat with orange, then it had white polka dots. They played ‘Find A Way’ ‘Waiting for Something’ and finished with ‘La Pump’. In my opinion one of the best performances they have ever done. After that , I went around and saw Money Mark at the Wookie Stage. Then I sat down, at the main stage. I saw Spoon. Spoon had a really good keyboarder, and some pretty good action with the crowd. Then interpol.
Interpol really disappointed me. I don’t know what to say really. They sounded good, but no action.

The Beastie Boys!!
WHAT A PERFORMENCE. Bjork was awesome, but the beastie boys!? I didn’t really like the music to be honest, but wow. What a show. Screaming, rapping, big beats. Cheering. Lasers, lights, and huge wind gusts made everything excentrictasticsico!

What a weekend, and what a great way to spend a holiday weekend.

M.I.A. cancelled

“Unexpected delays in the processing and issuance of MIA’s artist visa have forced her to cancel her appearance at this year’s Sasquatch Festival. We apologize to our fans and to the promoters of the festival and look forward to returning to the US as soon as possible. ”

Pssh she will greatly be missed from the Sasquatch Festival. I can tell you that! I am bummed.
BUT at least The Arcade Fire and Bjork are still playing!

The Long Winters were just added in place of M.I.A.
