December 24th, 2007Top 10 Christmas Songs & Videos of 2007
Hey there guys! This is Michael Cullen here, and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas as well as Happy Holidays. Today I will be counting down the top 10 Christmas songs of 2007. Now this is as far as what I have heard as far as radio play, MySpace Plays and YouTube Views go, so its not entirely just judged by my taste in music.
MXPX- Gimme Christmas
MXPX is a band from Bremerton, Washington. MXPX is a clash between Christian Punk & Pop Punk. According to the band
” MySpace is great. It is the place where everyone goes daily. Everyone’s got a MySpace. Everyone’s on it more than they like to admit. When you click on that MySpace main page, if your band pops up there, people are going to check it out.”
Personally the sound reminds me of a clash between The Beastie Boys & The young Good Charlotte, not to offend them.
Harvey Danger- Sometimes You Have to Work on Christmas
Harvey Danger is another band based in Seattle, Washington. They have been around for a while, and of course I am sure most of you all know the song ‘Flagpole Sitta’. If you don’t know it by name, you will know it by hearing it. You can add ‘Sometimes You Have to Work on Christmas’ as well as ‘Flagpole Sitta’ on their MySpace Page.
Man Without Wax- J.I.N.G.L.E Bells

Man Without Wax recorded a track last year titled ‘J.I.N.G.L.E Bells’. This year it is back and popular on their MySpace Page. If you want a catchy tune that is a twist on the old classic, check it out!
Taking Back Sunday- 12 Days of Christmas
Taking Back Sunday is a band from New York that has been around since 1999 and they are still going strong. The song is great, but the video is where all the fun is. The song you can tell was a pretty stress free and uplifting song compared to many of their other songs. This video is one of the four featured MySpace Christmas Videos this year.
Danger:Radio- All I Want For Christmas Is You
Danger:Radio is an Alternative Funk band, based out of the Edmonds,Washington area. Danger:Radio played Bumbershoot, Bamboozle, and is rapidly increasing their audience, and now draws a steady 5,000+ plays a day on MySpace. You can click the above link and get a free download of their Christmas Song!
Death Cab For Cutie- Christmas Baby Please Come Home
Death Cab is once again ANOTHER band from Seattle. I suppose Seattle bands have quite a nice taste of Christmas, regardless of the fact that Seattle hasn’t had a white Christmas in about 10 years! This video is an Amateur video added a couple weeks ago, I find the video quite good actually, as well as the song.
Relient K- Sleigh Ride
This video is meant to be listened to, not watched. The reason why this is number 4, is because of the rising tension in the song, compared to all of the other versions of this cover. I feel Relient K turned this song around and made it all their own. It isn’t very rockish either, it is pretty Christmas-like and very poppy. I like the twist they have on this song.
#3
Michael Buble- The Christmas Song
According to many people, Michael Buble’s cover of ‘The Christmas Song’ has more enthusiasm and pizazz than Crosby’s original version. The video above is nothing special, but it is the music that you must listen to. Michael Buble put out a Christmas Album ‘Let It Snow’.
Pokemon- I’m Giving Santa A Pikachu For Christmas
This video is great, the song is wonderful. I need to try and cover all genres, and I feel this video hit the top in humor. The song makes you want to hum along, and it actually gets you in the Christmas spirit. The lyrics are Christmasy, and its an all around humorific video.
The Raveonettes- Christmas Song

The Raveonettes are number one because of the passion you can hear in the song, the dramatic lyrics as well as how the instruments are Holiday-like. The Raveonettes are based out of New York, and have grown dramatically in the past 5 years. This song has been seen on thousands of MySpace profiles, and The Raveonettes have increased the song play dramatically as well as have moved much higher on the Top MySpace Artists list once they put this song on their MySpace.
Well, thanks for listening, watching & reading this post guys & gals. If you want to subscribe to read more amazing articles like this, either subscribe at the top, or even click here.
Happy Holidays, readers, and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do (I heard that from every one of my teachers!).
