• So if you are like most people, then you want the new iPod Touch or iPhone.
  • I am like most people… so I bought one. The Apple stores were sold out of course, so I checked Wal-Mart. Yep, they had them.
I bought an 8gb iPod Touch, with a 2 year extended warranty, since this was my first iPod bought brand new, two iPods later after buying them on craigslist, I realized that I need a warranty.

    iPod Touch 8GB iTunes Digital

  • The cost was $ 343.45 after tax. I went home, and I felt so excited I couldn’t contain myself. So I got it ready, read the entire manual, in anticipation of plugging it into my computer. I plugged it in, but my Windows XP Service Pack V.2 wasn’t installed.
  • I searched for help on forums for about an hour, then found out Download.com had what I needed.
I downloaded XP Service Pack 1, which took about 45 minutes, then installed XP Service Pack 2, which took about two hours… That STILL didn’t work, and I was getting frusterated.
I uninstalled iTunes entirely, and reinstalled it.
One hour later, my computer recognized the iPod Touch.

  • NEXT dilemma with my iPod Touch: I still had 11 GB of music, after clearing all the videos and songs I will probably never listen to again, on my computer. I made a playlist with 7.7 GB, but the iPod Touch could only hold like 7.5 GB, so everything past Tech N9NE was gone (Vanessa Carlton, Van Morrison, White Stripes, etc.) But thats okay, because I still have tons of music, AND YouTube, right?… WRONG
  • I started walking to school, music sounded good, cover flow was cool even with like 10 album covers haha. But the YouTube/ Internet didn’t work. No Wi-Fi was anywhere without a password. I get to school, and the school has locked Wi-Fi. Most people thought it was cool, which I found out was a main reason why I bought it. I ended up going home, extremely dissapointed that I forked out 350 dollars for something that couldn’t hold my music, couldn’t go on the internet anywhere but Starbucks or McDonalds, anywhere else there is computer access, so why bother?

  • To top it all off, it scratches easy. The iPod Touch is not scratch proof on the back. The back should be presentable, so without a case, the back will be so easily scratched its not even funny. The front doesn’t scratch, but it smudges really easily. It looked the way my iPod Video did after a month of use, in just one day of light use.
  • The Answer is No Vote No

Wal-Mart gave me a FULL refund, and was nice about it.

    The Pros:

  • Looks great.
Flicking music makes you feel cool.
Battery life seems pretty superior to other iPods.
  • The Cons:

  • Too thin.
    Smudges too easily.
Wi-Fi is nowhere to be found.
    The cost.
    The small size of 8GB.
And of course… NO pre installed games!
