Hey there guys! This is Michael Cullen here, and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas as well as Happy Holidays. Today I will be counting down the top 10 Christmas songs of 2007. Now this is as far as what I have heard as far as radio play, MySpace Plays and YouTube Views go, so its not entirely just judged by my taste in music.

  • #10
    MXPX- Gimme Christmas

MXPX is a band from Bremerton, Washington. MXPX is a clash between Christian Punk & Pop Punk. According to the band
” MySpace is great. It is the place where everyone goes daily. Everyone’s got a MySpace. Everyone’s on it more than they like to admit. When you click on that MySpace main page, if your band pops up there, people are going to check it out.”

Personally the sound reminds me of a clash between The Beastie Boys & The young Good Charlotte, not to offend them.

Harvey Danger- Sometimes You Have to Work on Christmas

Harvey Danger is another band based in Seattle, Washington. They have been around for a while, and of course I am sure most of you all know the song ‘Flagpole Sitta’. If you don’t know it by name, you will know it by hearing it. You can add ‘Sometimes You Have to Work on Christmas’ as well as ‘Flagpole Sitta’ on their MySpace Page.

  • #8
    Man Without Wax- J.I.N.G.L.E Bells
    Man Without Wax JINGLE Bells
Man Without Wax recorded a track last year titled ‘J.I.N.G.L.E Bells’. This year it is back and popular on their MySpace Page. If you want a catchy tune that is a twist on the old classic, check it out!
  • #7
Taking Back Sunday- 12 Days of Christmas

Taking Back Sunday is a band from New York that has been around since 1999 and they are still going strong. The song is great, but the video is where all the fun is. The song you can tell was a pretty stress free and uplifting song compared to many of their other songs. This video is one of the four featured MySpace Christmas Videos this year.

Danger:Radio- All I Want For Christmas Is You

    Danger Radio Free Christmas Song

Danger:Radio is an Alternative Funk band, based out of the Edmonds,Washington area. Danger:Radio played Bumbershoot, Bamboozle, and is rapidly increasing their audience, and now draws a steady 5,000+ plays a day on MySpace. You can click the above link and get a free download of their Christmas Song!

Death Cab For Cutie- Christmas Baby Please Come Home

Death Cab is once again ANOTHER band from Seattle. I suppose Seattle bands have quite a nice taste of Christmas, regardless of the fact that Seattle hasn’t had a white Christmas in about 10 years! This video is an Amateur video added a couple weeks ago, I find the video quite good actually, as well as the song.

  • #4
    Relient K- Sleigh Ride

This video is meant to be listened to, not watched. The reason why this is number 4, is because of the rising tension in the song, compared to all of the other versions of this cover. I feel Relient K turned this song around and made it all their own. It isn’t very rockish either, it is pretty Christmas-like and very poppy. I like the twist they have on this song.

  • TOP 3!!
    #3

    Michael Buble- The Christmas Song

According to many people, Michael Buble’s cover of ‘The Christmas Song’ has more enthusiasm and pizazz than Crosby’s original version. The video above is nothing special, but it is the music that you must listen to. Michael Buble put out a Christmas Album ‘Let It Snow’.

  • #2
Pokemon- I’m Giving Santa A Pikachu For Christmas

This video is great, the song is wonderful. I need to try and cover all genres, and I feel this video hit the top in humor. The song makes you want to hum along, and it actually gets you in the Christmas spirit. The lyrics are Christmasy, and its an all around humorific video.

  • #1!!!
    The Raveonettes- Christmas Song

    Raveonettes Christmas Song Live

The Raveonettes are number one because of the passion you can hear in the song, the dramatic lyrics as well as how the instruments are Holiday-like. The Raveonettes are based out of New York, and have grown dramatically in the past 5 years. This song has been seen on thousands of MySpace profiles, and The Raveonettes have increased the song play dramatically as well as have moved much higher on the Top MySpace Artists list once they put this song on their MySpace.

    Special MSbands.com ONLY featured blog!!

Within this next blog we asked Coheed and Cambria, Rachael Yamagata and last but certainly not least Chris Walla of Death Cab for Cutie!!

Each participant was asked each of the following questions via e-mail/phone.

  • Simply stated: Obama or McCain?
  • If Obama: Would you rather have Hillary?
  • If McCain: How do you feel about his running mate?
  • What will change your vote?
  • Coheed and Cambria

    Coheed and Cambria Election Politics

This was in an e-mail format and equally discussed amongst the band’s members.

    MSbands:Obama or McCain?:

C&C:it’s an obvious question when you look at the policies each candidate goes by. its either you want bush for another 4 years or you want someone that can at least attempt to make a change and someone that you know is going to at least try.

    MSbands:Would you rather have Hillary?

C&C: with [her] as our president it would still be better than bush or another bush for 4 years. plus with a guy who already knows how things are run, we are looking pretty good.

MSbands: What will change your vote?

C&C: theres no way in hell we are voting for another bush, lets put it that way.

    Rachael Yamagata

    Rachael Yamagata Voting Politics

This was on a phone interview which lasted not more than a minute, which was not easy to come across. But I got the answers in which satisfy what I need for this to be meaningful!

    MSbands: Obama or McCain?

Rachael Yamagata: Quite honestly I don’t agree with any of their (McCain/Obama) viewpoints. The ones which I actually agree with, don’t satisfy what I want. The abortion, firearms, war and taxes just don’t flow well for each one individually. Or quite simply I just don’t know (a short pause with a stutter) y-yet.

MSbands: Would you rather have Hillary?

    Rachael Yamagata: Yeah.

MSbands: What will change your vote?

Rachael Yamagata: Ummm, just seeing what happens I guess, there is still time left so one of them will have to pull something together that works for everyone. I gotta go , sorry, but thanks!

Chris Walla of Death Cab for Cutie

    chris_walla.jpg

    MSbands: Obama or McCain?

Chris Walla: mccain for now but the current situations are fluctuating my vote

MSbands: How do you feel about his running mate?

Chris Walla: that’s exactly why my vote is fluctuating. i can see why he made the decision, but although it was a clever attempt to gain votes it backfired.

MSbands: What will change your vote?

Chris Walla: time. the next three - four weeks really will get a solid decision in gear for me

There will be more artists coming soon! Stay tuned if you want to hear what Relient K, Cute is What We Aim for & This Providence have to say!

    August 18th, 2008Seattle Hempfest 2008

Seattle, Washington. August 16th & 17th. What a great two days those were. Let’s go over what Hempfest is, then we can discuss the festivities… and the great merchandise and hemp products!

    Seattle Hempfest 2008

Seattle Hempfest started in 1991. It’s goal is to, in a nutshell, legalize cannabis. There are thousands upon thousands of facts and arguments supporting pot apposed to the handful of reasons against it. Upon entering you instantly cannot walk a foot around hempfest without smelling the sweet smell of cannabis. You hear the sound of artists such as Los Marijuanos, or Handful of Luvin’, which is the perfect pot smoking music. This years theme was to legalize industrial hemp. It can help the economy, the environment, agriculture and many other factors in our society.

The highlight of my day there was seeing Rick Steves!
    Rick Steves

Rick Steves is the host on many travel shows, traveling mostly around Europe. Showing Tourists what to do, and where to do it.
He preached about how something must be done… it must be now, so on so forth, etc. But the way he preached it was just so moving. Perhaps it felt so patriotic due to the large array of Obama posters everywhere you look, aligned with marijuana leaves on the sides. Or perhaps it could just be the smell in the air possibly making me a little loopy.

So there was great great food there, and a normal festival based pricing cost. But the most reasonable priced goods were the hash brownies and cookies!

    Hash Marijuana Brownies Pot

What person wouldn’t buy a 5 dollar hash brownie so he/she can eat it in front of one of the hundreds of cops around the area. There are plenty of cops just watching to make sure no one is physically hurt. The police will not arrest you for smoking or possessing paraphernalia of any kind. It allows everyone to be happy, safe and stoned.

There were 5 stages!! One reggae, one folk, one TECHNO!, another two stages of soft rock, and then a few speakers at the stages in between performances.

Seattle Hempfest is every year, the third weekend of August! But if you missed it, then you can always check out Portland Hempstalk during the first weekend of September!
If you have ANY questions, please just post them here!
    Thanks!

If you are not then this playlist will please you just as much I am sure.

    Veggie Fourth Skewers Barbeque

  • Number 5:

Galaxie 500 - Fourth of July

This song involves the festive spirit along with the perfect background music for when you pop open your Coronas or Henry Weinhard Bottled Rootbeers. Check out the YouTube video for yourself!! They also have a few other great songs on their MySpace!

  • Number 4:

Just Jack - Starz in Their Eyes

A house-ish UK type of dance music which will surely grasp your audience right before they take the first bite out of their grilled hot dog / veggie dog. Just Jack has a sound similar to a funky version of The Streets remixed by a DJ with some techno-ish beats. If you want to check it out just click the above video!

  • Number 3:

    Albert Hammond Jr. - 101

Albert Hammond Jr. is a member of ‘The Strokes’… bassist rather. He boasts a sound in which relieves the troubled soul with an attached guitar and drum set. ‘101′ is a song about returning to home… returning home for the holidays? You decide, just watch the video!

  • PAUSE: Cute girl just for the spirit

Fourth of July Bikini Sexy Blonde

  • Number 2:

Sam Sparro - Black & Gold

That video is not the official video but these videos MSbands.com is posting right here isn’t meant for your viewing pleasure but rather for your sense of sound. This song is pretty much perfect for the intro to your fireworks show. It involves the electro/firework beats as well as the song has lyrics involving stars, sky and absence of a loved one… which is SO perfect for the activities of fireworks, right?

  • Number 1:
    Jack Johnson - Upside Down

Jack Johnson is a perfect selection when it comes to pretty much any kind of “shindig”. This song especially just celebrates a great climax to a wonderful day/night. “We will sing and dance… I don’t want this feeling to go away…”. Just great lyrics for a perfect day… I can’t say much more… except if you have a projector then this would be a great video to blast for everyone to see.

  • Wait a sec… Don’t you need some firework suggestions? Yeah! Heh, I think you do ;).

  • LADYBUGS
    Fireworks Ladybugs
These babies start off like a spinning disk then out of nowhere fly up to the sky quite rapidly and explode. They will run you about 4 dollars for a pack just like this… Well worth every 10 cents.

  • Have a save Fourth of July mates!!
